15. Linkee and the Bible Conference Mystery

Updated: May 13, 2021

KC group

Can you find the monkey?  I’m here in this BIG group of children.  I LOVE it when there are lots of kids to play with me.  There were plenty of kids when we went to a Bible Conference in a place called Kansas City, Missouri.

What is a Bible conference? I didn’t know for sure. There were lots of kids and fun things to do. My friends David and Benjamine were there.

KC Walls

So were the Walls, who are grandparents of my friends Jeremiah, Justin, and Henry.

“I thought YOU were their grandma!” I said.

“I am,” Grandma said.  “Most people get two sets.  Dr. and Mrs. Walls love the boys just like we do.”

That sounded like a good plan to me.

“So, a Bible conference is where you see your friends?” I asked.

“No,” Grandpa said. “We usually see our friends, but that’s not why we are here.”

The kids and I had a good time playing.

“Is a Bible conference a play time?” I asked Grandma.

“No,” she said. “We have a good time, but that is not why we are here.”

We had lots of good things to eat.  David shared his Kool-aid with me. “Next time, ask me first,” David told me after I took a big gulp.

“The conference must be eating time,” I said.

“No,” Grandma said. “The ladies cooked and cooked to fix good food for us, but that isn’t why we are here.”

“Where are we going now?” I asked.

“We are going to hear preaching,” she told me.

KC bored Linkee

Oh no!  That means sitting still and being good. I don’t LIKE to do that.  I was mad.

“But, Linkee,” Grandma said. “That’s why we go to a Bible conference. We love to hear about God and the message He has for us. We like all the things we do at Bible conference, like playing and eating and meeting our friends. The only important thing, though, is to learn more about our God.”

Preaching is hard for little monkeys to understand, but I noticed that Grandma listening and smiled. She looked happy.  Grandpa looked happy, too, and wrote lots and lots of notes.

I decided I would try to listen, too.  Maybe a little monkey can’t understand much, but when I am bigger, I will understand more.  I think my children friends will, too.

Your friend,

Linkee

Hi Kids,

We had a wonderful time at the Bible conference last month!  I know you are probably like Linkee and find preaching hard to understand.  The preacher isn’t just talking, though.  He is telling you something important.  I hope you listen very carefully. You might not understand everything now, but if you try, you will find yourself understanding more and more as you get older.  God’s Word is wonderful, and knowing God is the most important thing in the world! I am praying that each of you will one day soon become God’s child.

I love you!

Grandma
