And we add to our critter experience — flying rats. Okay, one rat, and it had some help. Rats are a problem here and we expect them outside. We weren’t unduly surprised when they invaded our not-so-well-enclosed porch/dining room. Last night, though, Paul spotted the tail of one peeping out from under the refrigerator. He moved the fridge while I stood by with the broom. When the huge thing ran out I panicked and screamed. Instead of hitting it with my broom, I swept it out toward the porch. I guess I don’t know my own strength, because it flew high in the air for ten feet across the room and hit the stove with a bang. He got away, but I hope he learned his lesson!
In other “rat” news, many are asking how our court date went. The “rat” did show up, but the results were mixed. We pointed out to the judge that A. had lied and had sold several pieces of property. Many people will be left homeless as a result — and he pockets the money for land the churches in America purchased. The judge was unimpressed and declined to do anything about it. What will the displaced people do? They are asking us for help. We are negotiating with the new owners and looking for solutions. Please pray for us as we look for a way to help, and for the people, as they are understandably anxious.
Because of the judge’s other decisions, though, the people in several villages are making strides in freeing themselves of A.’s control. More about that when I can write more freely. (Disclaimer: We could not understand the judge’s decisions, but we don’t know the laws of the country. It’s their country and we are working within their laws, so no disrespect to the judge is meant.)
I had opportunity to say one thing to A. after court as we were signing papers. I said, “Be not deceived. God is not mocked. You will face the Ultimate Judge one day, and you won’t fool Him.”
That’s why we don’t have to be angry and bitter. God has seen every single thing this wicked man has done. I don’t believe for a minute that he is going to enjoy his ill-gotten gains here on earth. And he WILL face the Judge. Unless he repents, he will pay for those sins throughout eternity. A horrifying thought!
Meanwhile, we also know that God takes care of His own. We are trying to keep the people from despairing and will do all we can to help them. We have no doubt that the Lord will supply their needs.
Blessings from Thailand,
Susan
